May Blog Hop with Technique

2016badge-mint

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for May 2016.  We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are featuring projects that are “stepped up” by using textures or fun techniques. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

I love to sponge my cards to give that special background.  This card is no exception and the stamp is perfect with Lovely as a Tree.  By using sponging as your technique you are helping the trees to stand out and set the tone.

DSC_0110 May Blog Hop

Base:  Lost Lagoon cardstock with layers of black and then white cardstock on top.  The Lost Lagoon cardstock anchors the Lost Lagoon in the picture.

Focus:  The picture has used Lost Lagoon ink in its’ sponging because it sets the tone with the trees.  This card is a sympathy card and so the darker shades work better than the bright colors.  I kept the foreground white to give more focus on the trees.

Tips

Stamp Set: Lovely As a Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Color Combination: Lost Lagoon, Basic Black

Ink: Lost Lagoon, Archival Black

Paper:  Whisper White, Lost Lagoon, Black

Adjusting to Topsy Turvy Is the Name of the Game!

Welcome to Topsy Turvy  week.   This week there will be a different schedule.  Your material that you normally receive will be coming just the days change.  I have received word that my preorder will be in on Wednesday which means the new exciting colors will be coming.  My UPS does not come till late in the day so I have decided this week only the newsletter will come out on Thursday.  This will give me time to prepare new information plus a peak at the new colors.   Wednesday will be Blog Hop and you will receive lots of great design ideas from stampers.  So WOW Wednesday will be Thursday.  Monday, Tuesday, and Friday will normal days.  So Card Fold Friday will have another great fold idea. I appreciate your understanding.

Before we start I need to remind you time is running out on the retired Stampin’ Up! products and you don’t want to miss out on these items plus you can save on some of them. Supplies are LIMITED! Remember I continue to offer projects with these on my blog site.

Now let us it on with the card design for Monday.  If you looked at and read yesterday’s blog, you saw my comment about six wedding cards needing to get done. So here is another wedding card.

DSC_0106 Love Birds

Base:  This is an all white card which signifity purity in the tradition of the wedding ceremony.

Focus:  Look at the darling love birds cuddling together around the oval cut out.

Tips

Stamp Set:  Occasional Quotes (retired) *

Color Combination:  White

Ink: Archival Black

Paper: Whisper White

Accessories: Bird Builder Punch, Oval Framelits, Big Shot, Tiny Triangles Embossing Folder

*Note: I absolutely love the Stampin’ Up! Occasional Quotes, but it is retired.  So in its place you could use Petite Pairs that has for the New Mr. and Mrs.  The Bird Builder Punch is retiring and I will continue to use it.  I love the bird and the branch.  The branch is so versatile.
