Stepping Up with the Dragonfly

It is time to step it up with the Dragonfly from Dragonfly Thinlits . Yesterday I posted on the Global Design Project a very simple dragonfly. Then I posted on Facebook a sympathy card that had a dragonfly for Freshly Made Sketches Challenge. You can see it at https://www.facebook.com/stampinpinkrose  The theme was anything that flies.  Today’s card is a little more elegant and carries the WOW Factor.  Yet it is simple to make.  I think what sets it off is the Designer Series paper and the So Detailed band.  You can make any project special by adding special details such as the Designer Series Paper, a band, or Speciality Paper like the Gold Foil.

Paper:  Notice how I used the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper and how I tied the colors together on the card. When you have multi-colored paper, see what colors you can bring out.  With the creams and a touch of yellow, it was easy to use the Gold Foil Speciality Paper. I used Crumb Cake Card stock for the base.

Stamp Set: I wanted highlight the single dragonfly in Dragonfly Dreams and easy way to use the Gold Foil. The words came from Best Birds Stamp Set.  I like these “happy birthday” words because of the font size and partial script.  To me it simple, but elegant when you use the mix writing.  If you used all print it would make it too casual.  Notice I used the flower from Falling From You stamp set around the 2″ Circle from Stitched Shapes Framelits.

Bundle:  This is a bundle set which means you will save 10%. However to me, the best part is the different uses because you have different sizes of dragonflies which add to the easy of cutting. If an item is easy to use, you will use it more.

Coloring:  The inks I used were Crushed Curry and Early Espresso Ink.  The Crushed Curry was used to stamp around the circle the flower from Falling from You stamp set.  By using Early Espresso you are staying in the teritiary colors which is between the primary and secondary colors. Remember we are using the Primary color of yellow. and brown comes from mixing Primary Colors.

Accessories: Stitched Shapes Framelits, Big Shot, Trimmer, Dragonfly Thinlits Dies, So Detailed Thinlits

Collar Card Fold Video

Today is a Card Fold is Friday and I have a card that is simple to make.  This card is great because it is so versitile and works for any age or sex because it depends on how you decorate it. Just watch the video and learn how to create a Collar Card.

This Collar is showing the more femine side with the flower from Crazy About You Stamp Set.  With the colorful flower paper, the flower in Calyspo Coral gives a perfect accent to this card.

I have included pictures of some different cards with a variety of stamps.  The first uses the Balloon Adventure and the punch.  This one would be perfect for a child’s birthday.  The second card is  a man’s card using  Guy Greetings stamp set.

I posted on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/stampinpinkrose/   another card that uses the collar technique.

Birthday Announcement for Paper Player’s Challenge

It is time for me to post a Paper Player’s Challenge.  This time the challenge is presented by Laurie Schmidt and the focuses is on where we place the sentiment on our card. The idea is to make the sentiment the focus point on the card.  This leaves us wide open on the  stamp set we want to use and Stampin’ Up! has plenty of stamp sets with words to choose from.  However, I decided to use a simple, but beautiful partial script birthday words.  Yet, this card screams it is time to celebrate your birthday. Then to finish it off I used the Peekaboo Peach Ribbon to tie with the Peekaboo Peach card stock that is the base. However, I felt it needed additional color with the Peekaboo Peach. So I added the Watermelon Wonder which ends up complimenting each other because there is a contrast with a lighter and darker color.

Tips and Tricks

Balloon Adventures Stamp Set: The beautiful balloons offers balloons with patterns to stamp in the colors of your choice. I chose to make it cheery card using Tangerine Tango, Peekaboo Peach, and Watermelon Wonder.  This makes the card scream happy birthday with the reminder “It’s Your birthday.”  I used the oval to direct your eye to the words.
