Hooray It’s A Challenge!

Before I take that Spring Break, I have two challenges that I need to publish.  The first challenge is Global Project Design and the other is the Sunday Challenge which will show up on March 19th. The requirements were to use Peekaboo Peach, Bermuda Bay, Early Espreso, and a color of my choice. So the color of my choice was Crushed Curry which I felt would compliment Peekaboo Peach and Bermuda Bay.

As you know that I am taking a break this week. So Iwould  like to use the analogy that while the cat is away, the mice will play. In my case this mouse is in charge. It is offering  a special offer for you,  you can join my team and receive a tremendously special gift.   I can’t say what you will receive, but trust me that you will be jumping with joy.  Just find the Join My Team button and click there. When I return it will be handled.  You have till March 19th at Midnight Cental Time before the cat returns and the mouse is sent packing.

Please note that I have been playing around with the set up of my blog. I am still making some changes. If you have any comments or suggestions, please email them to me at pamela@stampinpinkrose.com.   I am here to help you enjoy your hobby.  If there is anything can do for you, please let me know. You can easily order on my blog with the shop button.

Tips and Tricks

Stamp Set: The stamp set I chose were Reverse Words and Balloon Adventure.  The Reverse Words is one of the newest Sale-a-Bration stamp sets.  The thought was Hooray was perfect to celebrate a birthday. Okay, granted not everyone likes the hoopla.  Maybe because you reach a certain age you just try to ignore.  Personally I think it is how you feel and not the number which means do you feel the same today as yesterday?

  • Reverse Words
  • Balloon Adventures

Paper: Using the Bermuda Bay dotted paper from the In Color  ties with the Reverse Words stamped in the same color. Then add the ribbon in Early Espresso with the Early Espresso paper, you are keeping everything tied together.

  •        Early Espresso
  •        Whisper White

Ink:   Besides these colors being the requirement, the Peekaboo Peach and the Crushed Curry work well together. It is just a matter of arranging the balloons so that the colors compliment each other and don’t compete against each other.  The Early Espresso marker was used to draw the string for the balloons.

Embellishment: White Baker’s Twine is ther versitile for your different projects. Checkout my technique below.  You will need your Sponge Daubers.  It a package or two and label them with your different color names.  Then use them only for that specific color.

  •     White Baker’s Twine
  •     Sponge Daubers

Technique:  I know you wondering where the Early Espresso was used. I colored the White Baker’s Twine with Early Espresso using my Sponge Dauber.

Challenges:  They are so much fun to do you because it gets you thinking outside the box.  However, if you need directions, challenges can do that too because of the structure.  Some require  certain colors or layouts.  The one on Sunday is not really a challenge, but a place we can showcase a card.  I pick out a card that I think that it came out particularly well and yes kind of a favorite.  Right now I am really liking the Reverse Word stamp because it makes it so easy to create a card.

Accessories:  The Balloon Bouquest has two sizes of balloons you can punch out. I chose to use only the larger one.  Don’t foget your Stampin’ Up! Trimmer.

Spring Is Coming

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for March 2017. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are featuring Spring or Spring related projects. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

We like to think spring is around the corner and naturally flowers are part of that season.  So I chose bright cheery color for this card. It is almost monchromatic, but I added just touch of Tip Top Taupe as narrow band to tie the words stamped in the Stitched Shapes Oval.

Tips and Tricks

Stamp Set:  The beautiful flowers from Oh So Succulent stamp set sitting on brick wall makes you think of all the flowers that will soon be blooming on the brick wall.  I wanted the special look for the words. So I chose the Stylized Birthday Stamp to give it a little elegance.  I believe script gives more a formal look which gives the elegance.

Color: When we think spring, we turn our eyes to bright and cheery spring colors. For me shades of pink are my favorite colors.  So I chose Flirty Flamingo. However, keeping one color would make the color blend into the design.  So we need another color that would compliment, but not distract from the primary color.  So this is where Tip Top Taupe comes into play.

Ink:  Tip Top Taupe, Early Espresso

Paper:  The inks set the tone for the paper colors:  Flirty Flamingo and Tip Taupe.  You will need Whisper White for the oval.  Using the white makes the words stamped in Tip Top Taupe.  the band is from the 2015-2017 Designer Series Paper.

Technique:  The technique is simply embossing your card stock with the Brick Wall embossing folder.

Embellishment: Stampin’ Up! has a way of making a card easy because the colors and products all coordinate together like the Flirty Flamingo Ruched Ribbon.  Don’t forget to use your sponge daubers around the edge before you pop them up on dimensionals to make the flowers stand out.

Bundle: When you are able to bundle your stamp set and framelit, you win because you save 10%. So I used the Oh So Succulent stamp set with the Succulent Framelits Dies to make cutting out the flowers so easy. You simply stamp and cut. The flowers are stamped with Early Espresso ink and sponged around the edges.

Accessories: There are two framelits in this card. The Succulent Framelits was mentioned above, but there is one more… the Stitched Shapes Framelit. The Tip Top Taupe one is cut with scallop one and  the smaller piece is cut in Whisper White. The stitching around the edge sets it apart from any other oval. So cutting these out with ease is easy with your Big Shot.
