For Coffee and Cards

Today is the day that Coffee and Cards is back on Thursday.  So I created a special Christmas card for us to make.  To me, one of the true signs of Christmas is the Poinsettia (besides the tree). My mother had so many Poinsettias around the house at Christmas time.  I know this was one of her favorite flowers to decorate the house.  So I pulled out Peaceful Poinsettia stamp set from the Holiday catalog.

I need to remind you that this card takes time. So we are making two detailed Christmas cards and one not so detailed.  Yes, only three cards, but well worth the time.  Take a look at the detail of this card.  It sparkles because of the gold embossing powder.  It doesn’t hurt that the Blends are just perfect.  To me, Shaded Spruce just screams Christmas. I used Poppy Parade instead of Real Red for a change.  It seems to have a brightness to it.

A Bouquet for the Special Time

Stampin’ Up! came out with the most beautiful stamp set called Wishing You Well.  You will find it on page 35 in the Holiday Catalog.   It is one you could easily miss.  It was designed for two purposes …. Get Well (sympathy) and Holiday.  However, the bouquet makes a lovely Birthday card.   Fortunately or unfortunately, however way you want to look at it., I need Sympathy cards. They have been big sellers at my craft shows.

This card was quick and simple to make so you will have it done in no time.   I hope this is on your list of stamps to get. I have not been using the new purples and decided to give Highland Heather a try. Then I used Gorgeous Grape cardstock to bring it out.  Noticed I used the Quilted Embossing Folder on Smoky Slate. I just love gray and purple together,

Do You Have Favorite ……?

Once in a while, I like to ask questions and love to hear from you.  You know that you can comment below each post.   Remember I am posting to help you with your stamping.  So my question was what is your favorite embossing folder?  Yesterday I used the new Seasonal Wreath in the Annual Catalog.  Today I am using the new Tin Tile Embossing folder in the Holiday catalog.   Adding detail to your cards draws the person in.  This can be done by using background stamps or embossing folder.  So how do you draw someone in to take a closer look at what you created?

The card today is using the Stampin’ Up! Still Night stamp set and framelits.  The cards I made using this stamp set was one of the most popular at my craft show last Saturday.  It is fascinating to discover what people are drawn to.  Remember it is never the same at each craft show.  The stamp set I use for that show or the category can be totally different at the next show.  This time of year, one minute they are buying Christmas and next moment it is Halloween.  It holds true for baby, wedding, and sympathy cards.  Let alone birthdays.  You just need to be prepared to cover all the bases.  So take a look at this adorable owl.  Because I created it with dimensions, it jumps out at you and you don’t have to use dimensionals. I did it for the Holidays, but you can make this a birthday. Just change the greeting.
